AREA SCHOOLS COMPETE AT CLASS 1A STATE MEET

WICHITA – Three area schools, Little River, Canton/Galva, and Elyria Christian competed Friday and Saturday in Wichita at Cessna Stadium in the Class 1A state track/field championships.

The Little River girls had the best showing as they scored 20 points to finish 12^th in the team standings with Ashley Stephenson placing third in the 800 meters and the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams finishing third and fourth, respectively. Stephenson broke the school record with her finish.

A fifth-place finish in the javelin by Braxton Lafferty were the lone points for the Redskin boys.

For Canton/Galva, the Eagle boys ended up 18^th with 10 points thanks to Tyson Struber finishing fourth in the 200 meters and seventh in the javelin along with Christian Darrah placing seventh and eighth in the 3,200 and 1,600 meters.

Mimi Craig placed 12^th in the shot put and did not score any points for the Lady Eagles.

Elyria Christian had Macy Reiff and Daniel Olsen competing, but neither finished with points.

Team – Finished 43^rd with 4 points.

Wheelchair 100 Meters: 4^th – Jay Smith, 20.81.

Wheelchair 400 Meters: 7^th – Jay Smith, 1:42.54.

Javelin: 5^th – Braxton Lafferty, 163’11”, 4 points.

Triple Jump: 10^th – Braxton Lafferty, 41’1.25”.

4×100 Meter Relay: 10^th in Prelims – Redskins, 45.63, (Andrew Smith, Rylan Konen, Braxton Lafferty, Toby Jesseph).

Lady Redskins:

Team – Finished 12^th with 20 points.

100 Meter Hurdles: 12^th in Prelims – Aubrey Olander, 17.22.

800 Meters: 3^rd – Ashley Stephenson, 2:25.69, 6 points, (School Record).

Discus: 12^th – Lily Boughfman, 95’9”.

Shot Put: 6^th – Lily Boughfman, 35’11.5”, 3 points.

Triple Jump: 12^th – Alaina Eck, 32’2.5”.

4×100 Meter Relay: 3^rd – Lady Redskins, 52.35, 6 points, (Alaina Eck, Kami Grasser, Ashley Stephenson, Elsie Boughfman).

4×400 Meter Relay: 4^th – Lady Redskins, 4:19.31, 5 points, (Aubrey Olander, Kami Grasser, Alaina Eck, Ashley Stephenson).

CANTON/GALVA Class 1A State Track/Field Meet Results:

Eagle Boys:

Team – Tied for 18^th with 10 points.

100 Meters: 9^th in Prelims – Tyson Struber, 11.47.

200 Meters: 4^th – Tyson Struber, 24.13, 5 points.

300 Meter Hurdles: 9^th in Prelims – Lane McMannis, 42.98

1,600 Meters: 8^th – Christian Darrah, 4:46.04, 1 point.

3,200 Meters: 7^th – Christian Darrah, 10:43.53, 2 points.

Javelin: 7^th – Tyson Struber, 161’6”, 2 points.

Lady Eagles:

Team – 0 points.

Shot Put: 12^th – Mimi Craig, 32’11.25”.
