LITTLE RIVER – Looking to improve on last season when one runner finished 15th at the state meet, the Little River cross country team will have six runners for 2022.

Having started the program from scratch, coach Karen Hull is entering her fifth season in charge of the Redskin program and was pleased to have half a dozen runners out for 2022.

The Redskins will be led by the lone returnee from the 2021 team, senior Treyton Olander. All Olander did in 2021 was finish 15th at the state meet.

“Treyton (Olander) has been training hard to improve on last year’s finish,” noted coach Hull in her brief pre-season reflections. “We will have one other boy out for 2022 while four Lady Redskins will be competing. I look for each of these athletes to make gains from week to week as they really get their running legs and endurance built up.”

Joining Olander on the boys team will be junior Brady Obley who had a good season of track in the spring.

For the Lady Redskin harriers, they will be led by seniors Addison O’Neill and Bailey Spreier along with sophomores Lexi Heinly and Harmony Love. O’Neill ran her sophomore season but skipped last season.

The Little River cross country team will have their first meet on Thursday, September 1 at Pretty Prairie.
