            WICHITA – The Elyria Christian volleyball team began their 2022 season on a good note as they won a pair of matches on the road in Wichita from Reno County Sabers and the Wichita Defenders.

            In the first match against the Reno County Sabers, the Lady Eagles swept to victory in two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-10. Julia Allen recorded four aces and five kills while Ryland Hawkinson scored eight kills.

            The second match of the day against the Wichita Defenders, Elyria had to go three sets after losing the first set 22-25 before winning the final two sets 26-16, 25-22. Ryland Hawkinson led the team in kills with seven while Julia Allen recorded four digs.

            In the Lady Eagle junior varsity matches, Elyria went 1-1 for the day, losing to Reno County in three sets 17-25, 25-23, 13-25 despite Brooke Davidson recorded 10 kills and a pair of aces while both Natalie Jader and Emma Glendening had eight digs. In their second match, the Lady Eagle junior varsity defeated the Wichita Defenders 25-22, 25-21 in straight sets led by Addie Swenson who the coaches claimed had a great game both offensively and defensively.

            Next up for the Lady Eagles will be on Tuesday, August 30 when they travel to Wichita to face WAHAA.
