WICHITA – By winning twice on the road in Wichita on Tuesday, the Elyria Christian volleyball team remains unbeaten for the young 2022 season.
The Lady Eagles went to 4-0 with straight set wins over Central Christian (25-13, 25-14) and WAHAA (28-26, 25-14).
In their dominance over Central Christian, Elyria was led by Ryland Hawkinson who made five blocks and scored three aces while Macy Reiff recorded five kills and had eight digs. Alexus Swenson also scored three aces.
Hawkinson again led the Lady Eagles in the battle with WAHAA as she scored 12 kills and made three blocks while Laney Reiff recorded 10 assists and had eight digs.
The junior varsity team only played one match and lost to WAHAA in straight sets 21-25, 13-25 as Brooke Davidson recorded eight aces.
“Overall, we had a really good evening,” said Lady Eagle head coach Jayme Gardner in her post-match reflections. “We had moments where we looked focused and disciplined. We still are working through playing through an entire game with that same discipline. As we look into starting league play, we are going to have to dial in and hone some of our fundamentals. I believe that if we keep putting forth the effort that we showed tonight, we can continue to see success in our play.”
The Lady Eagles are back on the road next Tuesday, September 6 when they travel to Little River.
