ELLSWORTH – On Tuesday, the Smoky Valley girls tennis team traveled to Ellsworth where they dominated with three first-place finishes in four events in winning the team championship at the Ellsworth Invitational.
The Lady Vikings rang up 66 total team points to take the team championship by nine points over second place Central Plains. A split Ellsworth varsity squad rounded out the top four of the eight team invite.
In doubles competition Smoky Valley dominated as both the tandem of Karee Adam and Campbell Gaskill, and the duo of Lily Heline and Kayla Norberg went unbeaten at 3-0 to take first in both number one and number two doubles.
Lena Rauchholz went 3-0 to win the number one singles division while Kelsee Adam lost to the invite champion from Central Plains in her second match before coming through the consolation bracket to finish 3-1 on the day and in third place.
“We had an excellent day,” noted Lady Viking head coach Vince Warbinton. “The girls played exceptionally well, and I am proud of both their play and effort throughout the invitational.”
Next up for the Lady Vikings will be a home meet on Thursday, September 8.

LADY VIKING INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
Singles:
#1 Singles – Lena Rauchholz went 3-0 finished 1st.
#2 Singles – Kelsee Adam went 3-1 finished 3rd.
Doubles:
#1 Doubles – Karee Adam/Campbell Gaskill went 3-0 finished 1st.
#2 Doubles – Lily Heline/Kayla Norberg went 3-0 finished 1st.
