            ABILENE – It was a good day on Thursday for the Smoky Valley volleyball team as they traveled to Abilene and came home with three wins in a quad with Abilene, Thomas More Prep and Concordia.

            In the first match with host Abilene, Smoky Valley dominated set one winning 25-11 before holding on for a two-point, 26-24 win in set two to gain the straight set victory.

            Adrian Hazelwood led the match for the Lady Vikings with 23 assists and six digs while Hope Duncan recorded 13 kills and picked up eight digs and Katja Blanchat recorded nine kills and eight digs.

            Against Thomas More Prep in the second match of the day, the Lady Vikings once again scored a straight set win by taking both sets 25-11, 25-18.

            Hazelwood again had a strong match getting 18 more assists to go with four digs while Hope Duncan, Katja Blanchat and Tinley Scott combined to record 18 kills and make seven digs.

            Smoky Valley closed out the quad by having to go three sets to beat Concordia after losing the first set 18-25 before bouncing back to score wins of 25-17 and 25-20 in the final two sets to give the Lady Vikings a perfect 3-0 mark for the today.

            Leading the way in the final match was Hope Duncan as she recorded 12 kills and made 12 digs while Katja Blanchat had 15 kills and 12 digs while Hazelwood completed a huge day for her with another 23 assists, 12 digs and eight kills.

            The Lady Vikings will return to the court on Tuesday, September 6 when they travel to Hays.
