GOESSEL – The Canton/Galva volleyball team went 2-0 on Tuesday at Goessel with victories over host Goessel and Peabody/Burns.
In the match with host Goessel, the Lady Eagles went three sets before gaining the win. After losing the first set 14-25, they pulled off two close set wins, 25-21 and 25-20.
It only took two sets to take down Peabody/Burns, but both sets went the distance for the Lady Eagles before winning 25-23, 25-21.
“I am very proud of this young team for taking Goessel to three games and fighting to the end for the win,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Jessica Putman in her brief post-match reflections.
Leading the team for the two matches were Jayden Orth who served seven aces while making 29 digs while Trinity Espinoza recorded 14 kills and Brecken Pearson dished out 14 assists.
Now 3-1 for the season, next on the schedule for the Lady Eagle spikers will be on Saturday, September 10 when they return to Goessel for the Goessel Invitational.
