LITTLE RIVER – It was a busy night of volleyball on Tuesday for the Little River volleyball team as they played host to Herington and Centre, winning both matches in five tough sets.

“It was a competitive night for our Lady Redskins,” pointed out head coach Kim Rolfs. “Both teams gave us a run and made us put together tough plays to get the big ‘w’. I give both Centre and Herington credit for making it tough to put a ball down however.”

In the match with Centre, the Lady Redskins won in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20.

Against Herington, Little River won the first set 25-20 before stumbling and losing a tough battle in set two, 24-26 and then bounced back in the third set to win 25-15 and make the clean sweep of both opponents for the day.

Among the team leaders for the two matches were Alaina Eck who recorded 19 kills, made three blocks and had 22 digs. Both Aubrey and Havana Olander also recorded double digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Aubrey Olander also topped the team in blocks with seven while Chenzi Debaere and Kate Ellwood led the Lady Redskins in dishing out assists with 28 and 17 each.

Coach Rolfs concluded her post-match reflections by adding, “We need to realize teams will come to play against us, so we need to be mentally prepared for that and I felt like at times we were not doing so.”

Coming up next for the Little River spikers will be a Saturday trip to Centra for the Centre Invitational.
