          HAVEN – After being served a heartbreaking 2-point loss in week one, the Smoky Valley football team came out with a mission on Friday and went on the road to bury Haven by a score of 42-13.

          The Vikings earned their first score in the first quarter when they marched over 80 yards down the field and topped the drive off with a one-yard scoring plunge from Trystan Stambaugh. With a two-point conversion run by Kade Blanchat, Smoky Valley had an early 8-0 lead.

          Scoring twice in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Blanchat and a 12-yard pass play from Karson Pihl to Vincent Pickering, plus one two-point conversion on a pass from Pihl to Nolan Dauer, the Vikings went into the halftime break up 22-0.

          Four minutes into the third quarter, Pihl connected with Blanchat for a 43-yard scoring pass play  and with Pihl running in the two-point conversion Smoky Valley’s lead was up to 30-0.

          After Stambaugh found the end zone from four yards out later in the quarter, the Vikings found themselves up 36-0 before Haven managed to score twice before the end of the third stanza to make the score 36-13 heading into the final 12 minutes of play.

          Justice Autry put the game away for the Vikings on a 46-yard scamper to the end zone in midway through the fourth quarter to give Smoky Valley their final 29-point victory.

          As a team, the Vikings dominated the stat sheet, picking up 28 first downs running 66 offensive plays for 447 yards while holding Haven to just eight first downs and 220 yards of offense.

          Directing the Viking offense at quarterback was Karson Pihl where he completed eight of twelve passes for 155 yards while the Smoky Valley runners had three go over 60 yards in the game including 114 yards on 14 carries for Justice Autry. Trystan Stambaugh ran 19 times for 84 and Kade Blanchat finished with 66 yards on 13 totes while also being the leading receiver with three catches for 68 yards.

          On defense, Stambaugh and Caleb Gustus led the Vikings with five tackles each.

          Now 1-1 for the season, the Vikings return home on Friday to play Larned who will enter the game 1-1 as well after crushing Lyons 54-0 last Friday.
