On Saturday, the Little River volleyball team went on the road to play in the Centre Invitational and came home with the championship trophy.
The Lady Redskins began the day in pool play with a straight set 25-19, 25-17 win over Rural Vista before suffering their first loss of the season in match two when they lost to Marion 21-25, 24-26. In the final match of pool play, Little River bounced back and defeated Wichita Homeschool 25-12, 25-11.
“Overall, I was pleased with our performances this weekend,” noted Little River head coach Kim Rolfs. “Lots of girls did their part and contributed to our success. As anticipated when we control the ball, we are fun to watch and hard to beat.”
In the invitational semi-finals the Lady Redskins battled a tall and talented Berean Academy where they prevailed as winners with a straight set 25-20, 25-17 victory.
In a rematch with Marion for the invitational championship, the Lady Redskins scored a hard fought 25-20, 25-22 straight set win.
Individually, among the stat leaders were Aubrey Olander and Alaina Eck who recorded 38 and 35 kills, respectively, while both Kami Grasser and Chenzi Debaere each made 39 digs. Chenzi Debaere also helped direct the Little River offensive attack by dishing out 59 assist.
