            LINDSBORG – Ranked number eight in Class 3A, the Smoky Valley volleyball team finally made a home court appearance in 2022 on Tuesday and split a pair of matches with Lyons and Hillsboro.

            In the first match with Lyons, the Lady Vikings scored a straight set (25-13, 25-20) win led by Katja Blanchat with 12 kills and seven digs and Adrian Hazelwood who dished out 19 assists and earned two kills. Hope Duncan pitched in with six kills and seven digs.

            Going up against the top-ranked team in Class 2A, Hillsboro, Smoky Valley gave it a great battle but lost in straight sets 19-25, 20-25. Once again the Lady Vikings were led by Adrian Hazelwood who had 15 assists, a pair of kills and three digs along with Hope Duncan and Katja Blanchat who combined for 12 kills and six digs.

            Now 14-4 for the season, the Lady Vikings were scheduled to be back on the road Thursday at Ellinwood.
