LITTLE RIVER – On Tuesday, the now ranked number two team in Class 1A Division I volleyball, Little River, hosted Elyria Christian, the number eight ranked spikers in Class 1A Division II, for a three set match.

The Lady Redskins were able to overcome a tough, never give up Lady Eagle team and score a three set victory, winning 25-23, 25-20, and 25-13.

“Against a very scrappy Elyria team we came out victorious,” noted Lady Redskin head coach Kim Rolfs. “It was a difficult match simply because we couldn’t get the ball to go down. Multiple times I would think ok we will score this time, and Elyria would rally to throw it back at us. We were lucky enough to connect just enough on our ball control to take the win.”

Chenzi Debaere and Kate Ellwood directed the Lady Redskin attack by dishing out 45 and 33 assists, respectively, while Kami Grasser led the team in digs with 15 with both Mea Debaere and Alaina Eck each making 13.

Alaina Eck recorded nine kills while Aubrey Olander had eight and Ashley Stephenson had five.
