STERLING – The Inman football team, currently ranked number one in Class 1A, went on the road Friday to Sterling and shut down the Black Bears with a 40-0 victory.

Now 4-0 on the season, the Teutons will be at home next Friday, hosting Hutchinson Trinity who will enter the game 4-0 after beating Ellinwood 24-0.

The Teutons scored twice in the first quarter on a Samuel Shober one-yard run and a nine-yard scamper from Josiah Buller, giving them an early 16-0 lead.

Kellen Schrag jogged in from six yards out in the second quarter to give Inman a solid 24-0 advantage when the two teams headed to the halftime break.

Schrag scored again in the third quarter on a six-yard run before Harrison Brunk finished out the scoring for Inman when he found the end zone on a 14-yard pass from Josiah Buller, giving the Teutons the final 40 point victory.

Despite the sizable win on the scoreboard, the Teutons only gained 164 yards on 53 offensive plays, including and even 100 yards running the ball. The issue for Inman in the game was they were flagged for seven penalties which cost them a total of 110 yards.

Josiah Buller went just four of eleven throwing the ball for 52 yards while Schrag led the Teutons in rushing with 64 yards on 13 carries while Harrison Brunk had 42 on just three carries.

Defensively is where Inman likely won the game as they held Sterling to just three first downs and only 30 yards on 42 plays. Schrag topped the defense with 14 tackles that included one for a loss of yardage and he also swiped a pass interception. Samuel Shober had a quarterback sack and two stops for a loss of yardage amongst his 11 tackles and Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen recorded 10 tackles with three for a loss of yards. Zaden Johnson also chipped in with a sack and two for a loss among his nine total tackles.
