            MOUNDRIDGE – The powerhouse Little River football team traveled to Moundridge on Friday and shut down and shut out the Wildcats 46-0.

            With the victory, the Redskins are now 4-1 for the season and will be back at home next Friday when they host Herington. Herington will enter the game 1-4 after losing 34-22 Friday to Pretty Prairie.

            Against the Wildcats, Little River jumped out quickly with a pair of scores in the first quarter on a one-yard run by Rylan Konen and a 10-yard scoring pass play from Konen to Grant Stephens. Making both two-point conversions, the Redskins held a 16-0 lead at the end of the first 12 minutes of play.

            In the second quarter the rout was on as Little River scored four times, three of which came from Braxton Lafferty on two scoring runs of ten and six yards as well as taking a 53-yard pass play from Konen for another. The first score of the quarter came when Andrew Smith blocked a kick deep in the Moundridge territory and returned it to the end zone.

            The stat sheet was not overwhelming as Little River ran 26 offensive plays for 265 yards which included 131 yards passing by Rylan Konen on completing five-for-five in passes. Braxton Lafferty ran for 61 of the teams 134 yards rushing.

            On defense, the Redskins held Moundridge to just 59 yards on 30 snaps, including holding them to just four-of-ten throwing the ball for a minus-3 yards. Leading the defense was Toby Jesseph with eight tackles that included a quarterback sack and two tackles for a loss of yardage. Both Braxton Lafferty and Grant Stephens recorded six tackles with Lafferty getting a sack and Stephens getting a pair of sacks and a pair of stops that went for a loss of yardage.
