INMAN – In a battle of unbeatens, the Inman football team hosted Hutchinson Trinity on Friday and took advantage of four Trinity turnovers to score a 21-3 victory.

With the victory, the Teutons remain unbeaten at 5-0 for the season and presumably will still be ranked number one in Class 1A. Next up for the Teutons will be a road trip on Friday to Ellinwood. Ellinwood will enter the game 2-3 for the season after losing 36-0 on Friday to Conway Springs.

After neither team found the end zone in the first quarter, Inman finally scored in the second stanza when Samuel Shober finished out an offensive drive with a two-yard dive into the end zone. After Eli Brunk jogged in for the two-point conversion, the Teutons took a slim 8-0 lead into the halftime break.

Nobody was able to reach the end zone again until the fourth quarter when the Teutons scored twice on a 19-yard scamper to paydirt by Harrison Brunk and an eight-yard scoring pass play from Josiah Buller to Eli Brunk to give Inman their final 21-3 victory.

Both teams moved the ball well as Trinity touched the Teuton defense for 279 yards in total offense on 48 plays while Inman covered 249 yards on 70 snaps.  Trinity did get 184 yards in passing and 95 yards rushing but they also threw one interception and lost three fumbles, the difference in the game.

Inman’s Josiah Buller completed 12-of-19 passes for 115 yards while directing the offensive attack. Harrison Brunk ended up rushing for 55 yards on seven carries while Brant Mikulecky ran for 27, Kellen Schrag had 25 and Samuel Shober had 19.

Eli Brunk was the top recipient of Buller’s passing with five catches for 62 yards.

On defense, Kellen Schrag recorded eight tackles and Eli Brunk had six-and-a-half.
