            LITTLE RIVER – Little River celebrated their 2022 homecoming by scoring a 48-0 shutout victory on Friday in a football game with Herington.

            The Redskins are now 5-1 for the season and ranked number four in 8-Man Division I as they prep for a road game at Pretty Prairie next Friday.

            It got away from Herington from the get-go as Little River’s Braden Young ran the opening kickoff back 50 yards for a touchdown. After Rylan Konen scored on a six-yard run the Redskin defense tackled Herington in the end zone for a safety to go up 18-0 early.

            After the safety, Braden Young ran his second kick return to the end zone for a score before Rylan Konen completed his only pass of the game and it was a 42-yard scoring play to Kayston Cox. This gave the Redskins a commanding 32-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

            Braxton Lafferty ran for a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter from 19 and 24 yards out to give the 48 points that Little River needed to end the game at halftime by the point rule.

            Little River only needed 13 plays on offense to earn the win as they ran for 148 yards while the defense held Herington to just 72 yards on 36 snaps.

            Lafferty ended the game leading the Redskins in rushing with 77 yards on just four carries while Grant Stephens covered 65 yards on just three totes.

            Carter Stansbury, Toby Jesseph, and Andrew Smith along with Lafferty led the Little River defense with each recording six tackles. Of Lafferty’s six tackles, one went for a quarterback sack and two went for a loss of yardage.
