PRATT – On Tuesday, the Smoky Valley volleyball team traveled to Pratt and took a sweep of matches with Pratt and Hesston, needing three sets for both victories.

With the wins, the Lady Vikings are now 22-6 for the season and recently moved up two spots to be ranked eighth in the most recent Class 3A standings for the Kansas Volleyball Association.

Smoky Valley heads into the final week of the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Abilene for the Abilene Invitational where the Lady Vikings are scheduled to pool play with Buhler, Topeka High, and Hoyt/Royal Valley beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Against Pratt on Tuesday, the Lady Vikings lost the first set 22-25 before bouncing back to dominate the second set with a 25-13 win and then close out the victory with a 25-22 third set win as well.

Adrian Hazelwood had a huge match leading the offense as she dished out 21 assists while making seven digs and recording three kills.    Hope Duncan topped the team in kills and digs by getting 13 of each to go along with three service aces. Other team leaders recognized by head coach Doug Schneider was Katja Blanchat (four kills, nine digs), Avery Ahlstedt (five kills, four digs), and Tinley Scott (three kills, four digs).

As strange as he could seem to be, the three set match scores in the Lady Vikings second match with Hesston matched the scoring against Pratt as Smoky Valley lost the first set 22-25 before winning the final two sets 25-13, 25-22.

Once again, Hazelwood led the offensive attack as she dished out 35 assists while Katja Blanchat recorded 19 kills and made seven digs though Hope Duncan led the team in digs with 15 while recording 14 kills of her own to go with three service aces.
