INMAN – Inman bounced back from the only loss of the season on Friday by throttling Medicine Lodge at home, winning 58-6.
With the victory, the Teutons are now 7-1 for the season as they begin a run to the Class 2A State Championship game on Thursday evening by hosting Ellis. Ellis will enter the game 3-5 for the season.
On Friday, Noah Pollock got the Teutons on the board first when he took an interception and raced 25 yards to the end zone as Inman scored four times in the first quarter. Samuel Shober found the end zone from two yards out before Harrison Brunk scampered to two more early game scores on 50- and 41-yard pass plays from Tanner Heckel, giving Inman a commanding 28-0 lead by the end of the first twelve minutes of the game.
Kellen Schrag dashed 56 yards for a score in the second quarter giving Inman a 34-0 advantage at the halftime break.
After Tanner Heckel scored from seven yards in the third stanza, Kellen Schrag added two more scores in the final quarter on runs of 12 and 15 yards. Medicine Lodge managed to get a score late in the game as Inman concluded the dominating 52-point, 58-6 win.
Offensively, the Teutons rolled up 520 yards on 56 plays including 170 yards passing and 350 yards on the ground as they averaged right at 10 yards per carry.
Tanner Heckel completed eight-of-fourteen while running for another 127 yards on 12 carries to lead the Teutons. Kellen Schrag also reached the hundred-yard mark with 109 yards on nine carries while Samuel Shober just missed making it three 100-yard carriers with 94 yards on a dozen totes. Harrison Brunk was Heckel’s favorite receiver, gaining 120 yards on four receptions while brother Eli had 52 yards on three catches.
On defense, Inman held Medicine Lodge to just 102 yards on 43 plays including a measly four yards on 21 rushing attempts. The Teutons forced and recovered a pair of fumbles while also getting the early game interception. Samuel Shober recorded nine tackles while Eli Brunk had six with one being a quarterback sack and another going for one of the team’s six tackles for a loss of yardage. Zaden Johnson made three tackles go for a loss of yardage.
