            INMAN – Thursday, Inman hosted Ellis in their first game of the Class 1A playoffs and scored a commanding 36-7 victory.

            With the win, the Teutons are now 8-1 on the season as they get ready to take their number eight ranking in Class 1A into the regional playoff game on the road at Oakley next Friday. Oakley is 6-3 for the year after defeating Medicine Lodge, 34-8 on Friday.

            Tanner Heckel put the Teutons on the board in the first quarter ran he broke loose for a 79-yard dash for the end zone and followed up with a two-point conversion to give Inman the early 8-0 lead.

            In the second quarter, Heckel scored again on a 10-yard run before connecting with Eli Brunk on a 41-yard pass and catch for a second touchdown in the quarter to give the Teutons a 20-0 halftime advantage.

            After Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen powered into the end zone from two yards out early in the third quarter, Harrison Brunk took a pass from Tanner Heckel and sprinted for the end zone to give Inman a commanding 36-0 lead heading into the final quarter of play. Ellis finally found the end zone late, giving Inman the final 29-point win.

            Inman’s offense recorded 17 first downs in the game while running 48 plays and covering 396 yards which included 97 yards passing and 299 rushing.

            Heckel finished the game just two-for-seven passing for 97 yards but ran for 146 yards on 10 carries. Kellen Schrag toted the ball nine times for 63 yards while Samuel Shober and Dawson McConnell contributed a combined 81 yards on 14 carries.

            Defensively, the Teutons held Ellis to just seven first downs and 156 total yards on 46 plays that included a pass defense that held Ellis to completing just five-of-seventeen passes for a measly 39 yards.

            Both Eli Brunk and Kellen Schrag led the Teutons with eight tackles as they combined to drop Ellis ball carriers for a loss of yardage five times. Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen, Zachary Martisko, and Samuel Shober each earned credit for seven tackles and Harrison Brunk made a pass interception.
