Four McPherson area runners ran and placed at their state cross country championships last Saturday.

Running for Little River was Treyton Olander and Brady Obley who finished eighteenth and thirty-fourth, respectively at the Class 1A boys meet. Olander ran an 18:28.72 while Obley finished with a time of 19:14.73.

Elyria Christian had but one runner at the Class 1A girls championships, Laney Reiff, and she ran an outstanding race, finishing with a run of 21:27.70 which placed her in the medal standings at seventh place.

For Inman at the Class 2A meet, they were represented by Tyler Martisko. Martisko finished sixty-first with a run of 19:16.65.

According to Teuton head coach Jay Parsons, “Tyler (Martisko) got to experience for the first time not only a state cross-country meet, but also the course at Wamego. After the race he did express disappointment in how he performed. However, Tyler can now say he has been there and now knows what it is like to run with the best of Class 2A runners on a course that is very tough due to the hills. The Teuton cross-country program is just eight years old and except for one season we have had at least one runner race at the state championships. While Tyler’s time was slower than his best of the season, he closed out his freshman season racing with the best of our class.”
