HILLSBORO – On Thursday, for the first time since the holiday break, the Smoky Valley wrestlers got back on the competitive mat in Hillsboro and took wins in the final three matches to pull out a come from behind 41-39 victory.

The Viking grapplers will be back on the competitive mats on Saturday at Augusta.

Smoky Valley gave up a pair of early empty weight divisions and then lost five of the next eight matches by four falls and one decision, giving Hillsboro a 39-23 lead with just three weight classes to hit the mat.

This worked to the Vikings advantage as both Richard Zeller at 190 and Connor Smith-Bolin at 285 won by forfeits leaving Justin Holt to getting a win by a fall at 215 to give the Vikings the team victory.

In the girls matches, only Echo Clark and Keira Mullen had matches and they won both by a fall.
