BENNINGTON – On Tuesday the Moundridge girls put 32 points on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to overtake a lead by host Bennington giving the Lady Wildcats a 10-point, 70-60 road loss.

The loss drops the Lady Wildcats to 3-6 for the season as they prep for another road trip on Friday to Remington, currently the number nine team in Class 2A.

“I am really proud of the way my girls fought tonight,” said Lady Wildcat head coach Kaleigh Huxman. “We got sped up by their defense and committed too many turnovers, but when we settled down and ran through our offense, we did really good things.”

Bennington held a four-point, 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended their advantage over Moundridge out to 11 at 33-22 by the halftime break. After pulling out to a 16-point lead at the end of the third quarter, Moundridge put 32 points on the board in the fourth, unfortunately Bennington nearly kept up with 26 points, giving the Lady Wildcats their final 10-point loss.

Coach Huxman finished her post-game thoughts by adding, “Near the end of the third quarter, we started fouling to try and make Bennington score from the line instead of in transition. However, they did a great job of hitting their free throws down the stretch. I though my girls played with urgency and took really good shots in the fourth quarter, but we just could not break through the eight-to-ten point deficit.”

Addy Patrick and Cammi Unruh led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 15 and 13 points, respectively. The trio of Kindall Elmore, Kaelyn Wedel, and Macy Kaminkow all chipped in with eight points each.
