GOESSEL – The Little River boys earned their fourth victory in a row on Tuesday when they went on the road to Goessel and scored a 20-point, 71-51 win.

Now 7-2 on the season, the Redskins are scheduled to go on the road Friday to Rural Vista before participating next week in the Burrton Tournament.

Goessel took an early two-point, 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter before Little River outscored them by 10 in the second quarter to take an eight-point, 32-24 lead for themselves into the halftime break.

In the final two quarters Little River managed to outscored the home team by 12 to get to the final 20-point victory.

While the team dominated the boards with 31 rebounds and grabbed 13 steals on defense, the Redskins also committed 18 fouls that included several getting into foul trouble and team leader Braxton Lafferty fouling out.

“We had some guys in foul trouble early and through out the game,” noted Redskin head coach Erik Base in his post-game reflections. “We also had some guys step up for us tonight in a big way. It was great to see Andrew (Smith) get after the glass the way he did while Kayston (Cox) was able to step up and make some big shots for us to get us rolling. Our guys really battled under the bucket for rebounds and I am very proud of the for making the tough plays.”

Five Redskins scored in double digits on the night, led by Kayston Cox with 16 thanks to three three-pointers, while both Braxton Lafferty and Andrew Smith each hit for 15. Smith recorded a double-double by also pulling down a team high 10 rebounds. Rylan Konen chipped in with 11 points while Dalton Mantz nearly had a double-double as he scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
