WILDCATS – 3-PEAT CANTON/GALVA TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

            CANTON – For the third year in a row the Moundridge boys went into the mid-season Canton/Galva Tournament and brought home a championship trophy as they defeated Ell-Saline 66-55 on Friday.

            Coming into the tournament the Wildcats were ranked number 10 in Class 2A and will return home after the tournament with a 10-3 record for the season. Next up for the Moundridge boys will be next Friday hosting Goessel.

            Moundridge took an early six-point, 23-17 lead at the end of the first quarter and built it to an 11-point, 43-32 advantage as the teams headed to the halftime break. The two teams played even up game in the final two quarters as the Wildcats cruised in for the final 11-point victory.

            Logan Churchill and Barrett Moddelmog were both named to the tournament all-tourney team.

            Both Barrett Moddelmog and Landon Kaufman connected on four three-pointers and tied for the team high in scoring with 20 points each. Logan Churchill chipped in with 14 as just five Wildcats scored in the game. Kaufman had a double-double as he directed the offense while dishing out 14 assists. Moddelmog topped the team in rebounds with five.

            Two Wildcats were named to the All-Tournament Team as Barrett Moddelmog scored 56 points passed out 10 assists and grabbed 15 rebounds in earning his spot while Logan Churchill earned his all-tourney recognition by scoring 55 points, pulling down 14 rebounds and blocking 12 shots.
