ELYRIA GIRLS OUT PLAY MARION, WIN BY 14

            LOST SPRINGS – On Friday the Elyria Christian girls battled Marion for the opportunity to play in the championship game at the Centre Cougar Classic with Elyria coming out as the 40-26 winner.

            “Our girls played pretty well against a physical and talented Marion team tonight,” said Lady Eagle coach Greg Fields. 

            Elyria led by four, 13-9 at the end of the first quarter but pulled out to a 12-point, 29-17, advantage by the halftime break.

            Coach Fields continued by noting, “The first half was an offensive battle as we were having a hard time staying in front of their cutters. Fortunately, Allie (Stone) gave us a huge boost and provided a little cushion for us with her five three-pointers in the first half.”

            Allie Stone used those five three-pointers to lead the Lady Eagles in scoring with 18 points while Ryland Hawkinson also reached double digits with 10. Hawkinson led the team in rebounds with eight.

            Concluding his reflections on the game, Fields added, “Ryland (Hawkinson) was great again on the boards as well as being a dominant presence inside. Raegan (Hawkinson) came off the bench and gave us some exceptional minutes. Both Macy (Reiff) and Alexus (Swenson) were outstanding on defense.”

            The Lady Eagles were scheduled to battle Rural Vista for the Tournament title.
