VIKING WRESTLERS PLACE 4TH AT NICKERSON, 3 INDIVIDUAL CHAMPS

            NICKERSON – On Friday, the Smoky Valley boys wrestling team traveled to Nickerson where they finished fifth overall as a team while gaining three individual champions.

            Taking first for the Vikings, all going 5-0 for the day, were Connor Barnes at 126, Parker Gardner at 175, and Richard Zeller at 190. Geo Luis at 165 and Justin Holt at 215 both finished the day 4-1 and gained second-place finishes.

            As a team the Vikings place fourth overall with a total of 214 team points. The top five teams included the co-op team of Anthony/Harper/Chaparral in first, Independence in second, Wichita North in third and Haven placing fifth.

            On Tuesday, the Vikings sent three junior varsity wrestlers to Nickerson where they ended up placing third, fourth and fifth individually.

            Next up for the Viking wrestlers will be on Thursday at Southeast of Saline and on Friday on the road again at Remington.
