CLAY CENTER – Friday night the Smoky Valley girls traveled north to Clay Center where they rallied to score a heart stopping one-point, 44-43 win.
With the win the Lady Vikings are now 8-5 for the season as they ready to host Lyons on Tuesday.
After falling behind by four at 14-10 by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Vikings powered back and took a one-point, 19-18 lead over the Lady Tigers at the halftime break.
Clay Center came out of the intermission and regained the lead, this time by five at 34-29 at the end of the third quarter. Smoky Valley was able to out score the host team 15-9 in the fourth quarter and pull out the final one-point victory.
Adrian Hazelwood had a strong night for the Lady Vikings as she lead the team in scoring with 17 and rebounding with nine, just missing a double-double. Katja Blanchat and Tinley Scott both came close to double figures in scoring with eight points each with Blanchat also nearing a double-double herself with eight rebounds.
