            WELLINGTON – On Tuesday, January 31 the McPherson Middle School girl wrestlers traveled to Wellington for a round robin tournament and came home with a pair of varsity first place medals as well as a three first place medals for the junior varsity girls.

            “We had multiple girls wrestled four to five matches,” noted Junior Lady Pup grappler head coach Matt McCasland. “They all compete well all night.”

            For the Junior Lady Pup varsity wrestlers, both Rylee Holt and Riley Clemmons went unbeaten to earn first-place medals as Holt went 4-0 on the day and Clemmons finished 3-0.  Two others, Amara Dossett and Addie French both second.

            The junior varsity squad had three first place finishers including Pera Bauer who went 5-0 on the day while Tempe Bruner finished 4-0 and Molly Owen went 3-0.

            Coach McCasland concluded his reflections on the day’s performances by adding, “Pera (Bauer) and Rylee (Clemmons) had great nights and ran the table on their brackets. We were very impressed by the two of them. A few matches got away from us that the girls’ felt they should have won. We feel like our record could have been much better, but our staff is very proud of the girls overall.”

            The Junior Lady Pup wrestlers will be back on the competitive mat on Thursday when they host a six-team invitational.

VARSITY > Eliza Jex went 1-2, placed 3rd; Tylee Wilson went 1-2, placed 3rd; Amara Dossett went 3-1, placed 2nd; Rylee Holt went 4-0, placed 1st; McKenna Paul went 2-2, placed 3rd; Riley Clemmons went 3-0, placed 1st; Addie French went 0-2, placed 2nd.

JUNIOR VARSITY > Pera Bauer went 5-0, placed 1st; Amia Barrera-Prado went 3-2, placed 3rd; Molly Owen went 3-0, placed 1st; Tempe Bruner went 4-0, placed 1st; Maddie Snook went 0-3, placed 5th.
