INMAN – A huge first quarter propelled the Inman boys on Friday to a home court five-point, 38-33 win over Little River.

The Teuton shutout the Redskins in the first quarter as they jumped out to a quick 16-0 lead before Little River began to rally back and pull within five, 22-17 at the halftime break.

After Little River pulled to within two, 29-27, at the end of the third quarter, the Teutons held on to earn the final five-point victory.

“We grinded another win out tonight,” explained Teuton head coach Brett Froese. “Guess we are getting good at that. Started out playing really well then quit doing things we did to get a 16-point lead. I am proud of some of the tough plays we made down the stretch to be able to finish it off at the free throw line.”

Only four players were needed to score for Inman to get the win as Tanner Heckel led the way with 24 and Eli Brunk chipped in with nine.

Coach Froese finished out his post-game reflections by saying, “Tanner (Heckel) led us again in scoring and made some free throws down the stretch. I am really proud of him. We have to score more points and we are capable of doing that, but we must execute at a better rate than we have been. Once again, it was a very good night on the defensive end.”

For the season, ranked seventh in Class 2A , the Teutons are now 16-3 with one game left in the regular season and that will be on Tuesday on the road at Bennington.

Little River is now 14-5 for the season and has one more regular season game on Tuesday at Central Plains.

Braxton Lafferty led the Redskins in many aspects of the game including scoring with 14, rebounds with seven, steals with three and blocked shots with two.
