ELBING – After playing a close, tight game for three quarters, the Moundridge boys lit up the scoreboard in the fourth quarter on the road at Berean Academy to earn a 20-point, 55-35 win.

Currently ranked third in Class 2A, the Wildcats now stand at 16-3 for the season as they look to finish out the 2022-23 season on Tuesday on the road at Sterling.
“The game was tight through three quarters before we finally put some distance in the game by getting some defensive stops and getting free for some good three-point looks,” noted Wildcat head coach Vance Unrau. “We need a greater sense of urgency in the first half of executing our offense and getting some defensive stops.”
Berean Academy held an early one-point, 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter though Moundridge made up the point plus a pair in the second quarter and took their own two-point, 22-20 lead into the halftime break.
Allowing Berean Academy to stay within three at the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats offense poured 21 points in the scorebook in the fourth quarter while holding Berean to just four, earning them the final 20-point victory.
After missing Tuesday game, Logan Churchill was back in the lineup and led the Wildcats in scoring with 17, assists with seven and blocked shots with two. Churchill also co-led the team in rebounding with Barrett Moddelmog as they each had five. Both Churchill and Moddelmog connected on three three-pointers as Moddelmog joined Henry Hecox in double digit scoring as well with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Coach Unrau concluded his post-game reflections by adding, “We can’t wait to decide to take care of business. We still have not played at the high level it will take and what we are capable of for an entire game. Big game on Tuesday as Sterling is strong inside with good shooters from the perimeter.”
