EARN SUB-STATE WIN

ELLINWOOD – A strong fourth quarter rally propelled the Inman girls on Tuesday to gain a four-point, 43-39 upset win over Ellinwood in their quarterfinal game of Class 2A sub-state.
Now 10-11 for the season and the sixth seed of the sub-state, the Lady Teutons will now face second seed Whitewater/Remington (16-5) on Friday in their sub-state semifinals while top seeded Berean Academy (20-1) will tangle with fourth seed Moundridge (11-10) in the other semifinal.
“The girls played a consistent game,” noted Lady Teuton head coach Megan Heckel. “They held their composure when Ellinwood tied the game.”
Inman took an early seven-point, 12-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a five-point, 25-20 advantage at the halftime break. Ellinwood pushed back and took a one-point, 32-31 lead by the end of the third quarter before the Lady Teutons took the game over in the fourth and gained the final four-point victory.
Suttyn Harris continued her fabulous freshman season by recording a double-double in leading the Lady Teutons in scoring with 15 and rebounds with 12. Maci Neufeld also reached double digits with 10 points.
Coach Heckel finished her post-game thoughts by adding, “They rebounded the ball very well which made a significant difference. It was a good win for us. I was very proud of them.”
