HARRIS HITS FOR 18

STERLING – On Friday in their sub-state semi-final matchup, the Inman girls stumbled and lost by 16, 57-41 to Whitewater/Remington.

With the loss the Lady Teutons finish the season at 10-12 while Whitewater Remington finishes 17-6 after losing on Saturday to Berean Academy in the sub-state championship game.

“Remington is a good team,” pointed out Lady Teuton head coach Megan Heckel. “They are long and athletic. Once we relaxed, we did not make near as many turnovers and that translated into points scored for us.”

Inman fell behind by seven, 19-12 by the end of the first quarter but pulled back to within three, 29-26, as the teams headed to the halftime break. Whitewater/Remington extended their lead out to 10 at 45-35 by the end of the third quarter before closing out with the final 16-point victory over the Lady Teutons.

Suttyn Harris closed out her incredible freshman season by recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds as she made 10-of-11 free throws in the game.

Coach Heckel concluded her post-game, post-season reflections by saying, “We got within three right before halftime. They fought hard until the very end, never giving up. I saw a lot of improvement this season from the team, as I saw girls get better at doing things that they were uncomfortable with to start the year and by the end had confidence in doing them.”
