HAVEN – The Smoky Valley softball team stumbled in their 2023 debut when they lost both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday on the road at Haven.

In the opening game, the Lady Vikings only managed one run in four innings in losing 16-1, as they only managed four hits but committed seven errors on defense. Haven put three runs up in the first, seven in the second, two in the third and then four in the bottom of the fourth to get the victory.
Maggie Ryals, Jordyn Elseth, Karee Adam and Kayla Norberg each had hits for the Lady Vikings while Kelsee Adam scored the lone run.
Karee Adam took the loss on the mound for Smoky Valley.
In game two, Smoky Valley once again only managed one run in the second on four hits while once again struggling in the field with seven errors in another 16-1 loss as Haven put five runs up in the first and poured 11 across in the second.
Both Maggie Ryals and Ava Broxterman worked the mound for the Lady Vikings while Ryals led the team in hits with two. Broxterman had a hit and scored a run with Jordyn Elseth having the other Smoky Valley hit.
Next up for the Lady Vikings was Thursday hosting Southeast of Saline.
