HILLSBORO – The Smoky Valley softball team traveled to Hillsboro on Thursday and scored a split of a doubleheader as they scored an 11-4 win in game one before losing in the last couple of innings, 7-6 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Karee Adam threw a complete game and evened her season record to 2-2 with the 11-4 win.

While they did not score in the first inning, the Lady Vikings put one across in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and four in the fifth giving then an unsurmountable lead.

After having a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the third, the Lady Vikings allowed Hillsboro to tie the game with three runs after which they added two more in the fifth to earn the final one-run, heartbreaking win over Smoky Valley in game two.

Maggie Ryals began the game on the mound and recorded the loss while Karee Adam came on in relief in the sixth.

Rylie Tolle had another strong game at the plate by hitting for a double among two hits and three runs batted in. Both Jordyn Elseth and Karee Adam both hammered out three hits and scored twice.
