MARION – Despite pounding out 32 hits on the day, the Canton/Galva still ended up losing both ends of a doubleheader (9-11, 7-8) on the road at Marion on Tuesday by a total of three runs.

The losses drop the Lady Eagles to 3-3 for the season as they now prep for a big county battle on Tuesday, April 18 when they play host to Inman.
In the first game on Tuesday, the Marion took a 6-0 lead in the second inning when the Lady Eagles pushed three across in the third to cut the deficit in half. After Marion added a pair of runs in the fourth, Canton/Galva poured six runs across in the sixth to take a short lived 9-8 advantage on the scoreboard. Marion put three more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth and then held the Lady Eagles scoreless in the seventh to get the win.
The Lady Eagles recorded 39 at bats in the game while pounding out 20 hits, including a perfect five-for-five day from Julia Allen. Brecken Pearson, Raegan Hawkinson, and Jordan Friesen each scored three hits with Friesen pounding out a double as did Jayden Orth.
Jordan Friesen went the distance on the mound for Canton/Galva and threw 139 pitches while giving up 18 hits, 11 earned runs, walking three and striking out six.
During the nightcap, the Lady Eagles again recorded 30 more at bats and another 12 hits only to come up short once again.
The Lady Eagles took an early 3-0 lead before Marion put five runs in the scorebook over the second and third innings. After Canton/Galva pushed back out to a 7-5 lead in the top of r the fifth inning, Marion added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held on for the final one-run win.
Brecken Pearson was the bat to keep up with in the nightcap as she went four-of-five with two runs batted in, a run scored, a double and a stolen base.
Lili Espinoza and Cora Schamp chipped in with each getting a pair of hits while Schamp went wild on the base paths in recording four stolen bases. The Lady Eagles had a total of nine stolen bases in the game.
Pearson and Friesen shared time on the mound for Canton/Galva with Pearson going two innings and throwing 23 pitches with six hits, four earned runs and a strike out. Friesen took the loss while throwing 54 pitches over four innings and giving up five hits, four earned runs, walking nobody and striking out six.
