            HALSTEAD – On Tuesday, the Inman boys and girls track/field teams traveled to Halstead where the Lady Teutons won the team title while the Teuton boys finished second.

            In the meet the two teams combined to collect 14 first-place medals, 34 top-three medals, and 47 top-five medals.

            The Lady Teutons won the meet with 163 points, well ahead of second-place Remington with 139 while Halstead, Douglass, Hillsboro and Marion rounded out the field of six teams.

            Seven first-place medals were earned by the Inman girls led by Madilyn Heflin who won both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles while Maider Fernandez took first in the 200 meters, Chloe Schmidt won the discus and Morgan Froese finished first in the shot put. Both Froese and Fernandez nearly had a double gold day as Froese also placed second in the javelin and Fernandez ran second in the 100 meters. Both the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams also placed first in the meet.

            Overall, for the meet, the Lady Teutons amassed 17 top-three finishes and 23 in the top five.

            On the boys side, Teutons finished second in the team standings with 162 points, well behind meet champion Halstead who racked up 248 points.

Three Teutons recorded a pair of first-place medals with Eli Brunk winning both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, Tanner Heckel scored a pair in the 200 meters and long jump while Eli Leck took first in both the pole vault and javelin.  Harrison Brunk also garnered first place in the 100 meters.

            The Inman boys collected 24 top five finishes overall that included 17 in the top three.

            Next on the schedule for the Teuton track/field teams will be on Friday, April 21 at the Sterling Relays.
