            LINDSBORG – Defensive errors were costly for the Smoky Valley baseball team as they dropped a pair of games (1-10, 4-15) to Lyons at home on Tuesday.

            Between the two games the Viking defense committed eight errors which helped result in giving up 12 unearned runs between both games of the doubleheader.

            In game one, the Vikings only produced one run in the bottom of the sixth as they lost 10-1.

            Nolan Dauer and Kade Blanchat each had a pair of hits for Smoky Valley while Blanchat and Ethan Able shared time on the mound where Blanchat took the loss.

            In game two, Lyons scored at least two runs in four of the first five innings to take an unsurmountable lead and defeat the Vikings 15-4.

            The loss took away from an outstanding game by Trevor Jones as he went 2-for-3 with a triple.

            Ty Heitschmidt, Nolan Moore, and Braxton House worked the mound for the Vikings with Heitschmidt taking the loss.

            Now 3-7 for the season, the Vikings will be back on the competitive diamond on Tuesday, April 18 on the road at Halstead.
