CANTON – On Friday the Canton/Galva softball team hosted Ell-Saline and after dropping a two-run, 5-7 score in game one, managed to bounce back in the nightcap and score a one-run 12-11 win.

Now an even 4-4 for the season, the Lady Eagles will prep for a big week ahead of county rivalry games as they host Inman on Tuesday and Moundridge on Friday.
Ell-Saline pounced on the Lady Eagles with four runs in the first inning and then added one more in the third before Canton/Galva was able to score three in the bottom of the third and then add one in the fourth to pull to within 6-4. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles were only able to add one more run in the game and lost 7-5.
Brecken Pearson, Jordan Friesen and Emerson Hoppes each had a pair of hits to lead the Lady Eagles with Pearson and Hoppes pounding out a double while Friesen hammered out a home run.
Friesen worked the complete game on the mound for the Lady Eagles throwing 101 pitches, giving up 14 hits, seven runs, walking two and striking out nine.
Canton/Galva jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning of game two when Ell-Saline pushed across five runs in the second followed by the Lady Eagles getting three more to take a 7-5 lead into the third inning.
Ell-Saline scored four in the fourth and held a 9-8 lead into the fifth when Julia Allen smacked a two-run single to give the Lady Eagles the lead back at 11-9. Ell-Saline tied the game in the sixth with two runs before Canton/Galva scored again in the seventh for the win.
Julia Allen had a huge second game, going 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs batted in, and three runs scored. Brecken Pearson finished the game 3-for-4 including a double and home run while also knocking in four runs and scoring three times. Jordan Friesen chipped in with three hits as well while Raegan Hawkinson had a pair.
Jordan Friesen threw a complete game and got the win as she threw 126 pitches, gave up 13 hits, 11 runs, walked five and struck out five.
