BENNINGTON – After nearly pulling off a come from behind win in game one, the Inman softball team couldn’t produce in game two as they went on the road Friday and lost both ends of a doubleheader (8-7, 19-3) at Bennington.

The loss is the seventh straight for the Lady Teutons as they now 1-7 for the season. They now prep to battle area rivals Canton/Galva on Tuesday and Little River on Friday.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning and trailing 7-1 after four, the Lady Teutons rallied back after a change of Bennington pitchers and scored five in the sixth to pull within one and then pushed a run across in the top of the seventh to tie the game only to have the home team score in the bottom of the inning and get the one-run win.
Inman only managed to get four hits in the game with Kenna Woods and Kinsley Bigler each hitting for doubles.
Emma Brown pitched and threw 110 pitches, giving up just four hits and three earned runs while walking five and striking out ten.
“We struggled to put solid bats on the ball against their first pitcher,” noted Lady Teuton head coach Bre Ryan. “We made the most of their pitching change in the sixth inning and had a bit of a rally. I wish we could have gotten a few more runs across the plate, but I was happy to see the girls with some fight and confidence at the end of the game. Emma (Brown) threw 10 strikeouts, bringing her season total to 51.”
After Inman put three runs on the board in the top of the first in the second game, Bennington poured across 10 runs in the bottom of the inning, another six in the second and three more in the third to hand the Lady Teutons the final 19-3 loss.
Emma Brown was the lone Lady Teuton with more than one hit and one of her two was a two-run home run in the first inning.
Aoife Turcotte worked the mound for Inman.
Coach Ryan finished out her thoughts on the doubleheader and in particular the second game by saying, “Game two started out strong with a three-run first inning but we could not produce anything after that. Bennington has some very solid infielders that made some great plays on hard hit balls.”
