            SALINA – On Tuesday, the Smoky Valley boys tennis team went north to participate in the eight team Salina Central ‘Mustang Classic’ and came home with a second-place team finish.

            In a field filled with bigger schools, the Vikings still managed to score a total of 51 team points which placed them second to Andover with 61. Newton (40), and Hesston (37) finished out the top four with Garden City, Salina South, Emporia and host Salina Central the other teams playing.

            The Baker boys, Gabe and Zeke, had the best finish of the day by going 3-1 and placing third.

            Per Nelson and Nate Nyquist finished sixth in doubles while Max Bieker took fifth and Keaton Lieker placed sixth in singles.

Gabe Baker / Zeke Baker > went 3-1 (w, w, l, w) to finish 3rd – 16 team points.

Per Nelson / Nate Nyquist > went 2-2 (w, l, w, l) to finish 6th – 11 team points.

SINGLES >

Max Bieker > went 3-1 (w, l, w, w) to finish 5th – 13 team points.

Keaton Lieker  > went 2-2 (w, l , w, l) to finish 6th – 11 team points.
