For the Lady Eagles, they finished fifth as a team with 41 points, well behind meet champion Halstead who scored 153. Solomon, Hutchinson Central Christian, Hillsboro and Sedgwick were other teams competing.
Mimi Craig scored an individual win with the shot put while finishing second in the discus to lead Lady Eagles. Freshman Trinity Espinoza had her best jump of the season when she won the long jump. Makinlee Hoppes earned team points with a pair of fourth place finishes in the javelin and 300-meter hurdles.
In the boys meet, the Eagles finished second as a team with 81 points as nobody was keeping up with Halstead who rang up 258 points.
Both Lane McMannis and Jett Vincent were double first-place medalists with McMannis winning both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and Vincent scored top honors in the high jump with a season best jump, and 200 meters. Wyatt Collins earned a fifth first-place medal for the Eagles when he won the discus.
Collins came up short in finishing second in the shot put while both McMannis by placing third in the javelin with a season best toss, and Vincent ending up second in the 400 meters earned themselves a third individual medal. Vincent and McMannis landed a fourth medal by running legs with Jaden Ediger and John Erskin on the second place 4×100 meter relay team who ran the team’s fastest time of the season.
Eagle head coach Tina McMannis closed out the post-meet with a few reflections, saying, “The number of improved times and distances shows our team is improving and should peak right when we need to at our league and regional meets.”
Next up for the track/field Eagles will come on Tuesday, April 25 at Haven.
