CANTON – Playing a home doubleheader in Canton due to a home field renovation, the Inman baseball team did not miss a beat on Tuesday as they swept Canton/Galva with two wins, 10-0, 6-4.

The wins raise the Teutons season record now to 10-0 as they now prep themselves for a big battle on Friday with Little River who is also unbeaten at 10-0.

With the two losses, the Eagles drop to 4-6 as they prepare for a county rivalry doubleheader on Friday with Moundridge.
In the first game, the Teutons took an early lead, 3-0 after two innings and then added a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings before pushing five across in the sixth to gain the final 10-0 victory.
Brant Mikulecky led Inman both at the plate where he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and, on the mound, as he threw an 87 pitch two hit shutout. Mikulecky walked batters and struck out 12.
Only Dylan Cherry and Ethan Unruh had hits for the Eagles with Garrett Maltbie and Gavin Robertson working the mound, combining to throw 110 pitches, giving up six hits, just three earned runs, walking six and striking out seven.
It was a much closer game in the nightcap as the teams were both able to put a pair of runs across in the first inning. After Inman took a one run lead in the third, Canton/Galva scored twice in the fourth to take a brief advantage only to have the Teutons tie the game in the bottom of the inning at 4-4. The Teutons then pushed across two runs in the fifth to secure the final two-run, 6-4 win.
Mikulecky again led the bats for Inman, getting a pair of hits including a triple. Caleb Bigler went the full seven innings on the mound for the Teutons, throwing 103 pitches, giving up four hits, just one earned run due to the defense committing eight errors, walking three and striking out 12.
Garrett Maltbie hit a double for the Eagles, while Braison Alcala, Ross Burrill, and Gavin Robertson each had hits as well. Alcala, Ross Burrill and Noah Collins covered the six innings on the mound for the Eagles, throwing 99 pitches, giving up just four hits, four earned runs, six walks and striking out four.
“It was good to get a couple hard fought wins in tight ballgames,” noted Teuton head coach Matt Mikulecky in his post-game reflections. “Brant (Mikulecky) and Caleb (Bigler) pitched great games as they have been an effective one-two punch for us. We got a few timely hits and caught some breaks, but our defensive focus and execution was not good in game two. Hitting is contagious and so are errors. We have a lot of little things and mental mistakes that need addressed, but I am awfully proud of the team for how they have been able to battle this first half of the season.”
