            HESSTON – At a six-team track/field meet on Tuesday in Hesston the Little River girls finished second overall with nine event winners while the Little River boys landed in third place after earning five event winners.

            For the Little River girls, they rang up 159 points, well behind meet champion Berean Academy with 230. Hesston, Douglass, and Remington rounded out the competition where only five teams participated.

            The Little River girls rang up nine first-place finishes and a total of 24 placings in the top-six of an event.

            Winning individual events included three-time winner Havana Olander with wins in the triple jump, high jump, and 300-meter hurdles as well ad double winners in the four sprints with Kami Grasser taking first in both the 100 and 200 meters while Ashley Stephenson won the 400 and 800 meters.

            Also scoring wins for the Lady Redskins was the 4×100 meter relay team of Elsie Boughfman, Alaina Eck, Grasser and Stephenson plus the 4×400 meter relay quartet of Eck, Grasser, Addie Strecker and Stephenson.

            It was a three-team race for the team title on the boys side as Berean Academy came out on top with 184 points, Hesston ran second at 172 and Little River finished third with 143. Douglass, Remington, and Centre filled out the final three spots.

            Little River recorded 25 top-six finishes with five being event winners.

            Individual winners were Tanner Heckel in the triple jump, Rylan Konen in the long jump, Andrew Smith in the 200 meters and Treyton Olander in the 800 meters. Also earning an event win was the 4×100 meter relay group of Toby Jesseph, Konen, Lafferty and Smith.

            The Little River track/field teams will now have a week off before going to the Lyons Invitational on Tuesday, May 2.
