REMINGTON – On Tuesday, the Inman baseball team traveled to Remington where they dropped game one, 4-3, before bouncing back to gain a victory, 2-1, in the nightcap.

The spit puts the Teutons at 11-3 for the season as they now prep for a road doubleheader on Friday at Marion.

“I am thankful to escape with a split,” noted Teuton head coach Matt Mikulecky. “Both Brant (Mikulecky) and Zaden (Johnson) did a nice job on the mound in game one and gave us an opportunity to win, but costly errors were the difference.”

In game one the Inman defense committed three untimely errors as Remington scored once in the seventh to gain the final one-run, 4-3 victory over the Teutons.

Samuel Shober had a double as one of his two hits to lead the Teuton offense.

Brant Mikulecky started the game on the mound for the Teutons, throwing 58 pitches, giving up just a pair of hits, no earned runs, no walks and striking out seven. Zaden Johnson pitched the final three innings where he needed 54 pitches to give up four hits, one earned run, walked nobody and struck out two.

In the nightcap, Inman waited until the seventh inning to score a pair of wins and get the final 2-1 win.

Landen Shealy had a huge double to set up the win in the seventh inning while knocking the Remington pitching off their pace after which the Teutons loaded the bases when Jesse Ballard was hit by a pitch to punch across the winning run.

Caleb Bigler and Jesse Ballard shared time on the mound for Inman, throwing a total of 91 pitches, giving up six hits, no earned runs, walked just one and struck out eight.

Coach Mikulecky concluded his post-game reflections by saying, “I am awfully proud of our pitching staff once again. We competed for 14 innings against a solid team and only gave up one walk. Anytime you can command the strike zone and the defense makes routine plays, you are going to give yourself a chance to win.”
