            HILLSBORO – Moving up in competition on Friday, the Elyria Christian track/field teams participated in the James Thomas Invitational in Hillsboro, a 17-team event that included a large majority of teams from Class 3A and 2A.

            The Elyria Lady Eagles did manage to earn 35 teams points which placed them seventh in the team standings which was won by Smoky Valley with Inman, Berean Academy, Hesston rounding out the top four.

            Laney Reiff earned a first-place medal in the 1,600 meters while placing second in the 800 meters to lead the Lady Eagles. Ryland Hawkinson placed third in the Javelin and the Lady Eagles 4×800 meter relay team also finished third as well.

            The Elyria boys did not score any team points as only Blake Robertson in the shot put finished in the top eight of any event.

            On Tuesday the Elyria track/field teams will participate in a meet at Moundridge.
