HILLSBORO – It was a big day for the Inman track/field teams on Friday at the participated in the 17-team James Thomas Invitational in Hillsboro and both the Lady Teutons and Teuton boys finished second in the team standings while earning a combined eight first-place medals.

For the Teuton boys, they were led by Tanner Heckel as he recorded three first-place finishes in the long jump, triple jump and javelin while Eli Brunk won twice in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.
The Inman boys finished the day with 81 points, just 11 points behind team champion Berean Academy and two points ahead of Smoky Valley while Council Grove and Moundridge rounded out the top five in the team standings.
For the Lady Teutons, they also finished second in their team standings with 67 points, well behind team champion Smoky Valley. Berean Academy and Hesston tied for third while both Larned and Remington tied for fifth.
Madilyn Heflin, current Class 2A leader in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, won both events at Hillsboro while Katie Nichols managed to earn a first-place medal in the high jump. Both Morgan Froese in the discus and the 4×100 meter relay team scored second-place finishes as well.
Next for the Teuton track/field athletes will be a county rivalry meet at Moundridge on Tuesday.
