            HILLSBORO – At the James Thomas Invitational in Hillsboro on Friday, the Moundridge track/field teams went up against a loaded 17-team field and came home with a fifth-place team finish for the Wildcat boys and a ninth-place finish for the Lady Wildcats.

            The Wildcat boys finished the meet with 51 team points which placed them fifth behind meet champion Berean Academy, Inman, Smoky Valley and Council Grove.

            The lone first-place medal for the Moundridge boys came from the 4×100 meter relay team while Kaden Elmore finished second in both the 100 and 200 meters and Logan Churchill placed second in the 400 meters.

            For the Lady Wildcats, they ended the meet with 29 points which was good for ninth. Smoky Valley dominated the girls division while Inman, Berean Academy and Hesston rounded out the top four.

            Cammi Unruh ran second in the 100 meters and Haylee Jantz finished second in the 3,200 meters as the top Lady Wildcats for the day.

            Next up will be on Tuesday when the Wildcat boys and girls track/field teams play host to their own invitational.
