LARNED – On Friday the Smoky Valley baseball team traveled to Larned and came home with a pair of losses, 6-3 and 7-2.
The losses drop the Vikings to 4-12 for the season as they ready to play host to Hoisington on Thursday.
In game one, tied the game 3-3 in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run by Kade Blanchat only to have Larned push three runs across in the bottom of the inning to secure the final three-run, 6-3 defeat of the Vikings.
Outside of the home run by Blanchat, only Ty Heitschmidt and Ethan Able were able to get hits.
Blanchat threw the first five innings on the mound for Smoky Valley, giving up four hits, one earned run, walking three and striking out seven before Ethan Able came on for the sixth and took the loss.
After the Vikings scored once in the top of the first in game two, Larned scored three in the first, and two in each of the second and third innings the final five-run, 7-2 win over the Vikings.
Blanchat hit his second home run of the day, while Nolan Dauer pounded out a double as the two were the only Vikings with two hits.
Nolan Moore began the game on the mound for the Vikings and went three innings, throwing while taking the loss. Ty Heitschmidt pitched in relief.
