            MARION – Playing their second doubleheader in two days, the Moundridge baseball team stumbled on Tuesday when they went on the road to Marion and lost both ends of a doubleheader, losing game one 12-2 before being shutout in game two 14-0.

            The split leaves the Wildcats with a 5-11 mark for the season, next up is matchup with Hutchinson Trinity on the road on Friday.

            In game one Marion humbled the Wildcats from the opening pitch, scoring five in the first, four in the second plus two more in the third and then added one in the fifth to gain the final 12-2 victory.

            Layton Schmidt and Joaquin Huff each had two this to lead the Wildcat bats.

            Layton Wiens and K. Anderson worked on the mound for Moundridge.

            In game two, Marion put four runs on the board in the first, one in the second, seven in the third and two more in the fourth to get the five-inning, 14-0 shutout win.

            Layton Schmidt and Lane Durst were the lone Wildcats to record a base hit while Clay Wilson, Lane Durst and T. Porter all worked the mound.
