            STERLING – On Friday, the Canton/Galva softball team traveled to Sterling and put on a huge display of offense as they total 32 runs, 22 hits, four doubles, two triples and 13 stolen bases while taking wins in both games, 21-3 and 11-1.

            With the pair of wins, the Lady Eagles are now 10-6 for the season as they will play at Remington on Saturday in a make-up doubleheader before hosting Little River on Tuesday.

            In game one, Canton/Galva jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings before unloading for 16 runs in the top of the third to earn the 21-3 victory.

            Brooke Stephan went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in and two scores to lead the Lady Eagle offense. Adi Alcala, Julia Allen, and Jayden Orth all chipped in with a pair of hits with Orth’s two hits being a double and triple as she accounted for five runs batted in while scoring three times. Julia Allen also pounded out a double and Brecken Pearson hammered out a triple.

            Pearson pitched for Canton/Galva and threw just 70 pitches, giving up only three hits, two earned runs, four walks and striking out three to get the win.

            Game two went the full seven innings as the Lady Eagles held a 7-0 advantage after three innings and 8-1 after five before putting three more onto the board in the top of the seventh to get the final 10-run, 11-1 win.

            Emerson Hoppes was the hot bat in the nightcap for the Lady Eagles as she went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in, and three runs scored plus one stolen base. Adi Alcala and Jordan Friesen each added a pair of hits with Friesen getting powering out a three-run double.

            On the mound for the Lady Eagles was Friesen and she was spectacular, throwing 92 pitches over seven innings, giving up just three hits, no earned runs and one walk while striking out 16.
